Motorola DROID4 (XT894) running Android 4.1.2 Problem: - DROID4 originally configured for Verizon clients. - Verizon originally wanted USB tethering to be restricted to clients who had specific subscriptions. - for those who purchased the DROID4 on eBay and who are not Verizon clients, this means USB tethering is not available. Solution: 1) "root" the DROID4. 2) disable the "entitlement" check. ----- Preparation on phone: - turn on "System Settings > Developer options" - set check-box for "USB debugging". Preparation on Mac OSX: - download and unpack "razr_blade_mac.zip" - [optional] download "razr_blade-x.sh" "razr_blade-x.sh" is a copy of "razr_blade.sh" but tweaked to display the commands as they are being executed, as well as showing the comments/messages. - connect phone to Mac with USB cable. - open a Terminal window and "cd" to where "razr_blade_mac.zip" was unpacked. See the *log.txt files for the commands and the results.
